I am a budding photographer and my experience may be somewhat limited, however I have fallen in love with the art. Like photographers that have been in the business 20 years, I still have alot to learn. I have quickly discovered there is much, much more to photography than pointing the camera and clicking a button.
I still believe that the art of photography is in the eye of the artist. A good camera and how it is used doesn't hurt either. I try not to over manipulate my photos using digital software (that seems to be widely used and accepted today) other than minor tweaking of lighting and contrast. I feel editing and manipulating an imagine by adding graphics and wild colors becomes more graphic design than photography. A good photograph can and should be able speak for itself. My wildlife, nature and african photograhs do just that.
The nature of most of my photography is wildlife, and landscape in nature. I shoot most of the wildlife and landscape images in my hometown of Montgomery, Alabama at the Montgomery Zoo, The Montgomery Musuem of Fine Arts and other locations. The animals at the Zoo have captured my heart. Their habits and expressions mesmerize me and I often wonder what their thinking and feeling. I visit the Zoo at least once a week, where they offer a wonderful habital to animals and when I'm not able to visit, I think about the animals. Wonder what their doing and imagine the shots that I'm missing.
